Human responsibility
Defence Agenda is responsible for everything it publishes. A human editor reviews and stands behind every article before it goes live. Artificial intelligence is a tool that supports our journalists — it does not replace editorial judgement.
Where AI may assist
- Researching background and surfacing publicly available material for a journalist to verify.
- Assisting with structure, summarisation and language editing of human-authored reporting.
- Translation and transcription, checked by a person before use.
- Technical and workflow tasks such as tagging, formatting and quality checks.
What we do not do
- We do not publish facts, quotes, figures or sources generated by AI without human verification.
- We do not present AI-generated text as independent reporting.
- We do not use AI to fabricate imagery or misrepresent events.
- We do not let automated systems publish without editorial review.
Verification
Any material that AI tools help produce is held to the same standards as the rest of our work and is checked against our Sourcing Policy. Errors are handled under our Corrections Policy.
